Kindle Your Social Life --- We're Making Reading Cool Again

This has been a big issue with me. It doesn't fit in my pocket. I don't like to carry it in my hand b/c I am afraid I will set it down somewhere and never see it again. I am very forgetful. I wonder if anyone has devised a carry case that might fit on one's belt or something. sort of like a pistol. :-)

People are using lots of things to carry their kindles. One popular device is a case meant for a portable hard drive, but I don't know if any of them have belt clips. Not sure I'd want it swinging at my belt either...the kindle is not exactly small and I'd be afraid of banging into something.

If you're not accustomed to carrying anything with you, like a portfolio or briefcase, I'd be hesitant about carrying my Kindle in my hand also. As a woman, I just have to adjust the size of my purse and I'm good to go!

Wow..what an idea.. like a pistol. Well I carry around a bookbag-like bag everywhere I go (i use it as my purse) So it stays in my bag at all times. I keep the kindle a in nice padded cover so it doesnt get to knocked around.
But now you have my thinking of a way you could clip it on your belt or pants. hmmmmm

My answer to this question is: very carefully ! I'm afraid I will absentmindedly leave it somewhere.
Also I don't like the idea of leaving it in the car, not because I think some avid reader will steal it, but because of the heat. My kindle was slipping around in the cover but I solved that problem with velcro strips.

Mine fits in my purse - which is a leather mini-backpack style one. Use anything like that or a messenger bag or huge pocketed cargo pants (although I don't like this method - too easy to bump into things and it bangs on your leg as you walk).

You can get concealed carry purses and belly bags - these might work, but probably not (the shape really isn't like a pistol).

Amazon offers a few products that might help in carrying the Kindle. I haven't used these myself, so I don't know how good they are. I keep my Kindle in its original cover, in my tote bag or purse. I actually have an Amazon.com branded tote bag I bought years ago from them that has held up very well.

I'm a new member and I'm hoping to get a Kindle soon and have been looking at cases. Is there a good quality leather case on the market that anyone has tried? I want it to protect the Kindle, but also look nice.

Quite a few people have purchased the
M edge. Looks nice. I prefer to read mine without a case and just use the one it came with for transport. I have a cool silicon skin and it even fits into the original case.

i have been using the case it came with, but am probably going to crack and get something new.
i am wearing out the one it came with :(

If you like to read coverless this may be a good option for protection but not sure about carry other than by hand.

I'm sure there must be some sort of small shoulder bag that could be carried from left shoulder across to under the right arm.

Wow, that looks just like the neoprene sleeve that came with my Asus eeePC. In fact, so much so that I am now wondering ... Hmmmm (since they are virtually the same size).....

I carry mine in a purse the size of a small tote bag. I can fit the eeePC in there, the Kindle, my iPod, and ... oh yeah, my wallet too. :)

I have two websites for you to check out, neither has a case with a belt clip but you might find something that can help. The first site is Strangedog.com, this guy makes handmade covers for the Kindle and if you contact him maybe he'll be able to come up with something for you. The second site is SFbags.com, they have some unique bags for the Kindle. I have bought from both sites and both are great.

I bought a minipack
One strap over the shoulder
It rides on my back
Arm slipped in backwards
It rides on my chest
like a newborn
where I'm less likely
to forget it
I got it
because Western Washington is wet
and nobody but tourists
wear raincoats
or use umbrellas
and I didn't want
to carry it in a ziploc
:>)
