Kindle Your Social Life --- We're Making Reading Cool Again

Using MobiPocket to convert The Wheel of Time books in HTML...

My Kindle shipped today! My girlfriend is buying my a Kindle for Christmas, and as I am going out of town, she wanted me to have it for the trip. But on to the question!

I am an avid fan of fantasy books, in particular, the Wheel of Time series, by Robert Jordan. I have owned several copies of each of the books, and even the codex that was published, giving technical details about the cultures in the book, but without a narrative (I love lore). I got fed up with buying new copies once mine got dog eared, missing pages, etc, so I went scrounging on the internet for a digital copy. I finally found exactly what I had been searching for, a meticulously organized zip file that included all 11 books, plus the 3 prequels, AND the codex. It includes all maps, pictures, everything I wanted.

My question is if there is someone out there who has experience adapting .html to .prc using the MobiPocket Creator, in order to help me have this ready before I leave next Tuesday. It is approximately 10 Books with 55 Chapters each, each chapter is its' own .html file, plus 1 full book in a single .html, 3 short stories, and the Codex. The guide has it's own ToC at the very beginning that I would like to somehow incorporate, but the 10 books with individual chapters have a seperate .html page that acts as a ToC, linking to the chapters. Please respond here, or e-mail me.

PS - If this was posted in the wrong forum, I apologize, as I wasn't sure what catagory it fell under.

Edit 3/1/09 - Just added the entire series that is all but intact. See my post below for more information about it.

Hi Stephen,

Have you still got these? The link to the .rar file seems to be broken:
"You don't have permission to access "http://api.ning.com/files/vCD6NY6FhvlRoK8fwGsPU0Ss9bWwB*BBTfOjmIG9hTdFtub520hzP5gdLJX2Zq-5PCmNpZ2HJRskmkMoLKzymYLesMM*yqa7/WoT.rar" on this server."

Is there any way to get these back up somewhere? Or if someone else has them? The first book looks GREAT, and that link worked. Thanks and happy new year!

Michael

Apologies to everyone, but it will take me a little more time to get them together...my cat decided to knock over and break my external HD, which stored my backup zip of the WoT books. I lent my Kindle to a friend who was going away for the holidays, so I can't just pull them off of that either. But I promise I will re-upload the whole series (New Spring to Knife of Dreams) as soon as he gets back.

So I decided to figure out the conversion myself using this thread and mobipocket's website.
I just finished the second book and it looks similar to the first book that's posted here, except I added page breaks. If you see any mistakes or think of something I can do to make it better, just tell me.

I'll probably do the rest soon, they're not hard after figuring out the first one.
