The reason I wrote a history of Macon is that I was contracted to do it by a national historical press. Also, I just enjoy history.

I downloaded lots of sample chapters - good for the short attention span theater... But I'm wondering if the ability to read samples will actually lead to me reading fewer whole books! Usually if I buy a book, I feel committed to read it. But if I get a free sample and only feel lukewarm about it... no sale, no read.
So far I'm pretty impressed.
