I really liked this book too. I grew up reading this author since my high school. My newly published book; True Love Is Not Common, has similar main characters like this author. Hope one day my book will reach many reraders as this author; www.eloqu

I tried to read William Makepeace Thackeray’s Vanity Fair and just could not. It’s subtitle, A Novel Without a Hero, may as well read A Novel Without a Human. I got through the Battle of Waterloo and the following round of let's get Miss Crawley's m…

I couldn't agree more. I have a tendency to hoard books, like rubies and gems and letters from the past. I can't let them go. My collection is borderline, proud, guilty and embarassing. It's an addiction in itself. Once a year, I clear the shelves a…

I'm young, only 20 but I love reading. I do have the same probably though of never being able to get comfortable, which makes me find excuses not to read. "Books clubs hound me, literary blogs intimidate me and Barnes and Noble overwhelms me." Thes…

Interesting but not my view at all. I find very little joy in watching TV/movies and have no desire to leaf thru magazines most of the time. I LOVE Barnes and Noble - and I love sitting up in bed with my special reading pillow and getting lost for h…

Buy now. If the dx is that much better after the reviews are in (which will take a while...probably longer than from now to your vacation), buy one and sell your K2. I always recommend that you read when when you can, as soon as you can, as much as…

Hi Ray. If you like to read--my novel CROSSROADS is now available. It is an international action thriller (espionage/paranormal) based on several actual events. The novel is in the E-book format (Fictionwise, Ereader, etc) and it will be soon in Print too. It can be ordered through my website http://www.SNEDELTON.com. Several reviewers rated it as very good.
My next thriller, The Raven Affair, should be published in the Fall.
Thanks for your interest.

Thanks for the thoughtful note Ray. I love reading the Bible and sharing what I see with others--unfortunately what I see is very new and different and scares people away before they understand it. A couple of weeks ago I was finally able to share with a leadership coaching group I'm in and although every one was skeptical at first, all eight leaders got it at the same time. They were surprised saying "that's not heresy at all--we thought you were going to share some of your own personal interpretation of scripture but instead we do see the pattern in scripture you explained". Successes like that are few and far between.

I hope to publish both my book and supporting reference material on the Kindle and look forward to any publishing tips I find here on the forum. I have a rough work copy of the book working on the Kindle and will try to post it somewhere where you can access it if desired.

Thanks for the friend request...it is a nice welcome to this community.

That's good to know. My cats did knock the Kindle off my desk when I was charging it once, and that could easily have caused the problem. (Who knew that Kindles were so fragile?) When I get the replacement, I'll have to be more careful with it.

Thanks Ray! I love my Kindle--unfortunately it doesn't love me. The power cord won't stay in the device unless I hold it there at just the right angle. I am glad that Amazon is sending me a replacement right away.

You are so very welcome. I can't stand judgemental people. Especially if they haven't tried it. I'm sure there are things that they believe in that we wouldn't like but who are we to judge??

Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro - a review

At the intersection of science, society and identity, lives can only be seen as through a frosted window alternately revealing glimpses of light, shadow and, finally, a frightening opacity. Few of our favorite writers can see the dangers and the possibilities at this intersection. Kazuo Ishiguro can and shares his view with simplicity and grace.

Sir Thomas Browne

I’ve begun reading selections from the writings of Sir Thomas Browne, 17th century English writer of science and religion miscellany. Some excellent writers get lost in history because they never write a work distinctive enough to pass the test of time, but still are compelling to read for their style and ideas. I’m reading into Browne’s Christian Morals, which reads like the KJV Bible on steroids.

* On chastity – “…be chast in thy flaming Days, when Alexander dar’d not trust his eyes up… Continue
