This angers me - as my Kindle isn't a year old and the price dropped $100?!

Thank you Abhi, for the good news!

Amazon have confirmed with a UK newspaper, perhaps it was the Guardian, that Kindle DX International will be released - they seemed to hint at a 2010 International Kindle DX release date.

It's very good news that Kindle 2 International version now is launched. However the 6" screen is very small. Thus it's desireable that also the Kindle DX 9,7" version is also made available internationally. Anyone now anything about wether this is…

Profile Information

About Me
my name's abhi and i've lived all over the world - some of my fav cities are -
1. vancouver (8.5 months - love it, although I miss london girls terribly)
2. minneapolis (a week - friendliest people ever)
3. orlando (9 months)
4. vegas (12 days)
5. rochester ( multiple times)
6. seattle (4 years)
7. rapid city, sd (a weekend + best hosts ever)
8. delhi (11 years - mostly great)
9. london (1 year - definitely visit or live for half a year)
10. somewhere in nepal where pigs walk on the street (3 months - they have the best coca cola ever)
11. nainital (india nepal border) - 5 years. amazing place - lots of rain, cold, sorta like london + seattle + vancouver.
12. nashik (near bombay) - great weather. rains a lot (seems to be a pattern) + loads of sunshine. best grapes. my first best friend. my first good friend who was a girl.

i've loved books since i was a child and the amount i read varies from multiple books a week to spells of weeks without books.

i just moved to vancouver, and its great because people say hi on the street, and all the trees are changing colour and leaves are falling. it also rains a lot. if i hadn't lived in seattle and london immediately before this i might have been affected by it.

if you're into sports, i play soccer and support arsenal, the mariners, pacers, and timberwolves (now boston because of KG).

Newspaper Death Watch List

I wanted to start noting down newspapers that are dead or dying out -
1) Seattle PI - If it's not sold by March 10th, will be closed down. After 146 years.
2) Rocky Mountain News - closing down today - Feb 28th, 2009. After 150 years.

We really are looking at the death of an entire industry.

Also, according to Yahoo News, Four owners of 33 U.S. daily newspapers have sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection… Continue

Video Review as compared to a normal online review

I was looking at Brandon Carroll's video review (link is on the main page) and some thing struck me - a video review just adds a lot of dimensions -
* a better idea of who the reviewer is.
* actually seeing the product, and seeing the various things talked about.
and a lot of other things.

its really late here in London so i'm going to go back to sleep - however, I really can't stop thinking that Amazon should let users add a ton of video reviews. especially frank non-biased ones by real kindle… Continue

Okay, so your the creator, right? I have a question about why I'm a featured member when I haven't done anything extraordinary. Not that I'm complaining, just curious.

I have noticed that since Amazon started shipping the K2, membership in this group has skyrocketed. Is Amazon introducing this forum with the paperwork shipped with K2?

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'm sorry but I have a few questions based on your response to me.

1. How long does the battery on the original Kindle last. I'm trying to figure out what 25% more is. Nothing is lost when/if your battery dies and you are not able to recharge it for a while, right?

2. The built-in SD card is great. Can I assume that the 1500 book capacity is dependent on how many pages are in the books or is that 1500 books regardless?

Thanks & sorry for being a nuisance.

Hi Abhi,

I have a question that maybe you can help me with. I, like you, am waiting for my Kindle 2 to arrive. I would see it advertised on the Amazon website and was always fascinated with it. To make a long story short, my boyfriend ordered me one (after much nagging) but now I'm hearing that the Kindle 2 lost some of the features of the first Kindle i.e. it no longer has a SD slot & the battery is irreplaceble. To be perfectly honest with you, I really have no idea what all of this means, especially about the battery being irreplaceable, but it does start one to wondering.

Have you heard any of this talk? Is it true? Would it be better for a first time user to get the original Kindle?

Any feedback would be most appreciated.

Thanks.
