Making Audio Books

I've been experimenting a bit with audio books. I found that if you drop an .MP3 file into the "Audible" subdirectory, the Kindle will treat it as an audio book. It actually scans through the whole subdirectory tree and adds each MP3 file as an individual "book" in the main screen. One problem is that MP3 files don't have chapters. Another, bigger problem is that it doesn't seem to be measuring time correctly when I concatenate MP3 files. The file length (in minutes) isn't right, the position… Continue

Hi:

When you get a minute, please check out my three Kindle books at Amazon. Just use my name to search, and they will pop up. Or, if you prefer to search by title, they are:

1. Assignment in Antibua
2. Julius Caesar
3. Spymaster

Many thanks.

This way is free, but you have to transfer the file to your kindle using the usb cord they provide. (just put the file in your books folder on the kindle....

Rick,
All your existing ebooks can be converted easily over to Kindle format using a free program called Stanza. It runs on both Mac and Windows operating systems. If you want to get fancy you can use the mobipocket creator, but it only runs on windows. However, I have found that straight .txt files work best on the Kindle. Good luck and happy reading!
