Amazon Vs Google Book Wars start end 2009.

That’s when Google releases Google Books. The recent Google Book Search Copyright Settlement note has some strong clues (read the 39 page notice). Edit: The settlement still has to be approved by the court.   First, I’m going to include some key provisions of the Google Book Search Copyright Settlement -   Copyright holders get 63% of the [...]

Kindle Case reviews - Amazon Kindle Case Guide

There may be a variety of reasons that you want to get a new kindle case. If you want to buy a new case/cover because the Kindle keeps slipping out the case it ships with, take a look at this excellent illustrated kindle case velcro hack on Flickr on how to use velcro with your Kindle case and make it work [...]

A perfect example of why giving away a book free works

R. W. Ridley is having a Free Kindle contest. Basically, his book ‘The Takers’ is free, and you have to answer one question based on reading the book and you can enter a contest to win the kindle. I was waiting for a game called Fallout 3 to install (its the only big ticket video game [...]

Best Kindle Posts - Kindle’s first year

I was hoping for some magical announcement on the Kindle’s 1st year anniversary (new features? kindle 2.0? $100 off? free books?). In the absence of anything more exciting here are the top Kindle related posts that I’ve come across in my online wanderings during the first year of the Kindle’s existence - Igor’s Kindle Hacks Post [...]

Kindle Shipping Delays worsen. Want a Kindle for Christmas? Order Now.

Kindle shipping delays have increased - If you want a Kindle or want to gift a Kindle this Christmas you’d better order one now. This is rather surprising news - it’s 18 days since the Kindle went out of stock. You’d think the combination of Amazon’s measures to get more stock, the 2-3 weeks delay, [...]

Kindle Economics - Will lower priced Kindle Books pay You back Your $359?

The short answer is - No.  Don’t buy a Kindle hoping you’ll magically earn back the $359 in a year. Truth is, you are never going to get back that $359. All the fancy projections you are hearing about how buying x books a month will get you your $395 back in a year are nonsense. I’ve spent [...]

Free Children’s Books for the Kindle + some cheap kids books

First courtesy Randy Foster, we have a free children’s book - The Velveteen Rabbit (illustrated) by Margery Williams at Munseys. There are a variety of formats available including Kindle/MobiPocket. Munseys also has some other great illustrated books for children including My Father’s Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett. And they have 1800+ children’s books in all. The Velveteen Rabbit [...]

Amazon Kindle 1 Year Anniversary - A Kindle History of Sorts

Its nearly a year since the Kindle Reader was unleashed on the world … and nearly a year (- 4.5 hrs) since it first went out of stock. So it is rather ironic that 1 year later we are again faced with severe kindle shortages. I had a kindle time-line/history  post up on another site [...]

Does Amazon give publishers just 35% of Kindle edition book sales?

Alright - I need your help here. I read through a ton of sites and blogs and I distinctly recall reading a publisher talking about how Amazon gives only 35% of book sales of Kindle edition books to publishers. Could someone confirm this? Deny it as just a rumor? Basically, I think the fact that self published [...]

Why isn’t there a Kindle Book Deals section?

I searched through the Kindle Store, and couldn’t find any section focused on Book Bargains and/or Deals for Kindle Owners. the Kindle Store is probably the only Amazon department that doesn’t have Deals, Deals of the Day, Outlet, and other bargain sections. Here are a few suggestions for deal sections that would appeal to Kindle [...]

i've loved books since i was a child and the amount i read varies from multiple books a week to spells of weeks without books.

i just moved to vancouver, and its great because people say hi on the street, and all the trees are changing colour and leaves are falling. it also rains a lot. if i hadn't lived in seattle and london immediately before this i might have been affected by it.

the whole move to vancouver thing is a bit of an excuse.

Video Review as compared to a normal online review

I was looking at Brandon Carroll's video review (link is on the main page) and some thing struck me - a video review just adds a lot of dimensions - * a better idea of who the reviewer is. * actually seeing the product, and seeing the various things talked about. and a lot of other things. its really late here in London so i'm going to go back to sleep - however, I really can't stop thinking that Amazon should let users add a ton of video reviews. especially frank non-biased ones by real kindle… Continue

I am so sorry. I was not aware that this was verboten. That was the reason I
sent you a copy of what I was sending--to have it pass muster with you. May
I suggest--for future unwitting transgressors--that you tell them somewhere
on the site that this is not welcome. It appeared to me that you invited
this kind of thing. And everyone who replied seemed to be genuinely glad for
the contact. Once again: Forgive me. But the deed is done. Perhaps my
low-tech grasp is to blame!

Hi:

I did get a message on my page from Lee, after a bit of a delay. But you just sent me an email saying there was a message from you on my page. It was not there.

Any ideas?

Actually, I guess the scroll bars are in the edit view. But that is still helpful!

Abhi - My comment did not show up as email. I just emailed Sig because I was unable to post what my comment. For some reason, I was not able to post on his wall. There may have been a hiccup in my internet connection. I just went back and tried to post and it worked this time. So I guess there is nothing to "fix."

Thanks for your help! And the quick response with the "currently reading" box. I appreciate it.

Abhi - can you give the "Books you are currently reading" text box some depth, plus add some scroll bars.

I am sure I am not the only person who reads multiple books at a time and it would be nice if it were easier for people to see them.

Thanks, Lee

PS - Plus the problem I had with posting message in Sig's page which I see referenced below.

Hi:

Another problem for you: Lee Hammer said that she tried to post a comment on my page but could not. I did get an email from her. Could you see what's what here? Many thanks.

Hi:

When you get a minute, please check out my three Kindle books. Just use my name to search, and they will pop up--with many more mentions by others.

Many thanks.
